This is for
the trunk remote open switch. On the driver's side door,
there is a button directly below the grab handle which,
when pushed, unlocks and pops open the trunk. It does
the same thing as the button on the keyfob.
The trunk
switch has a colorful history. Apparently it was a
lighted item in 2003, and then for a short while in 2004
it disappeared completely. It reappeared in 2005 as a
non-lighted model. If you have a non-lighted version &
want it lighted, it is very simple to simply swap it
out. If you don't have it at all, it gets a little more
complicated, but doable.

You can find door panel removal instructions
here.
If you do not have a switch at all, you may need to
punch a hole in the door. The correct harness
SHOULD be there, with a connector ready to be plugged
in. That's a theory though. The second
picture backs up that theory, as there is a receptacle
for an the unused connector molded into the door. |
