"Closes all windows and the
sunroof with a button on the electronic key.
Comfort closing also includes express up function for
all windows."
Comfort Open:
According to the manual on pg 99 & 100, if you hold the
"unlock" button on the fob for more than 2 seconds, all
the windows will lower & the sunroof opens all the way.
This is useful in the summer if you want to quickly vent
all the hot air in the car before entering.
Comfort Close:
You can close all the open windows by pressing the
"lock" button on the fob for more than 2 seconds. Good
for putting your windows up when it starts raining &
you're inside a building.
The premise of
this function working is something called pinch
protection. It is a function of the window motor
that, when sensing a stall condition (weight pushing the
window down while it is trying to go up) it will reverse
direction. Rather like some electric garage
door openers. This is a safety feature designed to
prevent things getting caught in the window when you are
not watching. If you have remote control of
windows, it is possible you are not there to see them
working, so they must take care of themselves.
What that boils
down to is that there are 2 kinds of window motors:
those with pinch-protection (PP) & those without.
If you car has "express up" where you can press the door
window button once & it rolls up or down automatically,
then you have the PP motors. To get remote comfort
open or close is simply a Tech II change your dealer
does. I believe all dealers worldwide will enable
Comfort-open with minimal fuss. And apparently, when the
first 2003s came out, US dealers would program
Comfort-Close as well, just like any other option via
Tech II. However, a letter came out from Saab to all the
US dealers that made them refuse activating this. I
believe dealers in other parts of the world will still
will activate Comfort-close, but I'm not sure.
If you do not
have PP motors (usually Linears), then you will need new
window motors, wire harnesses & switches (and anything
else I missed). I do not know if the "express up"
will work without a Tech II change.
Typically found in Great Britain, The Netherlands,
Russia.
I do not have any other information on retrofitting this.
