The Saab Global Factory Options Guide (SGFOG) is simply a
list of factory (not aftermarket) options that are present on all Saab 9-3s,
worldwide, through all model years from 2003 on.
The purpose of this is to familiarize owners with
different factory options that are not present on their cars, that
might interest them. Factory options, bits,
and perks you may want
but missed out on due to de-contenting, or
options being removed, or options not even available
in your country. There are options
offered in Great Britain that an Australian owner
may find interesting but never knew about. This
website aims to fix all that. All factory options that
are available that are & are not bolt on, simple or
hard to retrofit, all are included. The
secondary goal of the site is to include as much
known information as possible to enable an
interested party to fit an option to the vehicle.
Sometimes it's possible, sometimes it is not.
There are resources on the web that can
help you in finding the parts you need, and advice
that transcends this site. A small sampling of
those resources are on the Resources link.
Lastly, I'm not part of Saab in any way.
I'm just a guy who seems to like the cars they make.
I research the items here to the best of my ability,
but none of this information is guaranteed. To
this end, if you find any info that needs to be
added or is wrong, please tell me about it!
Drop me an
email & if possible, please specify what page
you're talking about. Each has a unique
identifier in the bottom right.
Explore the site, look around, and mod on.

A little bit about the models:
The Saabs seems to be split up into a couple of
different markets: North American (US & Canada),
European (including Japan & Great Britain), and
other (Australia, Russia). There are so many
different factory options, and almost every country
(at least the 8 I've examined in depth) offer about
4 trim styles, with many option packages.
Currently, a Saab 9-3 can come out of the factory in
one of just over 100* different configurations, with
options in paint, engine, seat trim, etc.
* an estimate.
The actual number might be less since options are
usually lumped into packages, but it's pretty close.
A bit of thanks:
Much of this website would not be possible without
the help of various folks who must deeply thank for
their contributions.
-Countless members of
Saabcentral.com who have answered my annoying
questions about what bits are on their car.
-Many of the excellent Saab-authored instructions
are courtesy of JWLANKY.
-Various Saab dealer Parts Department folks
(worldwide), who put up with all my questions about
part numbers.
-Saab/GM, for without all your cost-saving &
decontenting moves, this would not even exist.
-Saab's Catalog, which I shamefully ripped off the
design scheme from. |
