Dome Front Main

These are the dome lights above the front seats.  This page is specifically for the Main lights (indicated by "A" in the picture below).  "B" are the reading lights.  They are actually the same bulb.

The Main Dome Lights are activated by either the door switch (any door) or the console switch.  They are not hardwired to the switch, but rather controlled by the computer & bus system.  The computer has control of the outgoing voltage, and thus is able to slowly phase the voltage from zero up to 12 volts.  They dim off after approximately 20 seconds after the door has closed, and they turn off right away if activated via overhead console switch without dimming.

If you use an LED, they will not fade on/off because once the bulb has enough volts (much less than 12), they will flip on.  Also of note is that there is a low amount of current running through the circuit that will force one or both of the lamps to glow dimly 100% of the time.  I do not know why this is, as this circuit is not a current-sensing circuit to monitor if bulbs are burnt out.
